An attentive hearing was accorded Mr St. Clair Jounneaux, Independent candidate for Marsden, when he delivered an address in the Warkworth Town Hall. A \ote of thanks to the candidate was passed. WHANGAREI, Monday.

The supplementary roll already contains about 300 names. The supplementary roll in 1031 contained 1326 enrolments.

SSidey this morning requesting him to allow his name to be considered for that seat in the National interests. Sir Thomas promised to give a decision at an early date.

MAORI ELECTORATES. RATANA PARTY’S TOUR. GISBORNE, Monday. The statement that the recent tour of the North Island by Ratana and his followers had a decided political aspect was made to-day by a prominent native who attended the recent Maori gathering at Nuhaka. Ratana and his entourage, after paying a courtesy visit to the Maori King Koroki, proceeded to Nuhaka, ostensibly to participate in the Sir James Carroll memorial celebrations, visiting various native settlements on the route. Associated with the party were the four Ratana candidates for the coming general election:—Messrs E. T. Tirikatene, M.P. (Southern Maori), John Ormond, of Mahia (Eastern), Tokouru Ratana, son of the leader (Western), and Maraku (Northern). It is suggested that the enlistment of political support for the candidates, who are described as having leanings toward the Labour Party, although not officially endorsed by it, was not the least of the objects of the tour.
