NORTH AUCKLAND AREAS. HAWKE'S BAY SCHEME. WHAN GAR El, Tuesday. It is staled by Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P. for Marsden, that the departments ol‘ Scientific and Industrial Research. Agriculture and Lands, and Ihe Unemployment Board arc preparing a comprehensive closer settlement schenYb for North Auckland and Hawke's Bay. The plan provides for flic allocation of areas suitablo for settlement and sub-division, the extension of dairying, sheep, citrus and small fruit farms, and lung oil and tobacco plantations, as well as guidance for oilier farm problems.

Mr Murdoch said that a soil survey of an extensive tract north of Auckland will he carried out. It is also hoped to discover minerals such as aluminium, tiie working of which would create increased employment.
