ELECTRIC-POWER PLANT.
AN OFFER REFUSED. GOVERNMENT AND MONOWAI. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Monday. Opinions strongly adverse to tlie proposed disposal ol' Ihe Monowai hy-dro-electric station to the Government and against the acceptance of the Government’s terms for Ihe supply of additional power were presented to the Southland Electric-Power Board today. The hoard's secretary and Hie chief engineer were supported in their llndings by independent, investigators. The board unanimously decided against both the disposal of the station to the Government, and the acceptance of the terms for additonal power. The Government offered to pay the board £135,000 in New Zealand currency for the works and to supply power at £G 7s 6d per kilowatt.
