PACER DEFEATS CYCLIST. (By Tclcgrapn.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. In a challenge match of one mile on the Addington trotting ground on Saturday. J. R. McKenzie’s pacer' 'faxpayer beat It. G. Watson, the champion cyclist, from a Hying start. Taxpayer took the lead passing the stands, where Watson lucked in behind Taxpayer and trailed him until the straight was garbed. There was a great tussle over t lie last furlong, Taxpayer healing the cyclist by a head. The sectional times wcl -,,;—Two furlongs, If is; half-mile.
