DOGS NOT REGISTERED.
OWNERS FINED. Several dog owners were lined in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today by Messrs G. Hyde and W. 11. Paul, .f’s.P., for failing to register their animals. Mr F. A. Swarbrick prosecuted on behalf of Hamilton Borough Council. Lionel George Morris contended that Ihe dog lie was charged with owning was not his property, and also that the animal in question, which was his daughter’s, had died when the dog registrar called. Jt had died early in May. Ernest William Tabor, dog registrar, said that he saw the dog at defendant’s house on April 1G and May 20, when he called, Defendant registered the dog last year.—Defendant was fined 5s and costs. —“Do i have to register the dead dog?” asked defendant as he walked out. For a similar offence Wililam D. Ross was lined 5s and costs, while two others paid their registrations and costs lo the council after receiving their summonses.
