POST OF ADMINISTRATOR. PETITION TO GOVERNMENT. MR A. C. TURNBULL NAMED. f (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) APIA, Aug. 22. A petition, well supported by business men, planters and other local residents, has been forwarded by the Maui Pomare to the Government of New Zealand asking for the appointment of Mr A. C. Turnbull as Administrator of Western Samoa, in succession to Sir Herbert Hart. Mr Turnbull has held the position of secretary and deputy-administrator in Western Samoa since 1930. He is a native of Balclutha and is 54 years of age. lie joined the New Zealand Public Service in 1899. lie was appointed chief accountant to the Lands and Survey Department in 1912 and was appointed inspector in 1915. He was subsequently appointed secretary to the Public Service Commissioner. He served in the Great War with the Canterbury Regiment. He is at present acting-Administrator in Samoa.
