CORPORAL PUNISHMENT
TENDENCY IN SCHOOLS•BOARD MEMBERS CENSORED. (By Telegrapli.—Press Aisoclatiori.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. The increasing complaints of corporal punishment in schools were discussed by Hie Education Board this morning, members reiterating their strong disapproval of such punishment as an aid to teaching. It was resolved to send a memorandum to all schools, and also to appoint a committee to redraft the by-law on the subject. One member stated he had received more complaints in the last year or so than ever before, which might arise from the changed attitude of parents. The chairman, Mr J- Wallace: In the old days when t got a licking, Dad said I should have received more'than I got.
