Plans for a chain of meteorological stations on all Imperial hir routes were among the topics discussed toy Empire weather experts at a private conference in London. “ It is hoped that we shall have a chain of services from London to Australia, South Africa and Canada,” said Sir George Simpson, after the conference. “AH the services must work to a uniform 'system. Aeroplanes are going to flv by night and day, and their safety will depend largely on help from the meteorological stations. It is proposed to broadcast information from high-power wireless stations at Rugby, Arlington, Sydney, Tokyo, Cairo" and Moscow.” The conference recommended: 'the establishment of an ocean observatory station at Tristan Da Cunha, and an Arctic meteorological station at Chesterfield Inlet, Hudson Bay. The latter will be about 400 miles from the north magnetic pole.
