WATER-HEATING RATES.
REDUCTION AUTHORISED. BOROUGH COUNCIL DECISION. A new scale of water heating rates providing for a reduction to consumers was adopted on tho recommendation, of the electrical engineer, Mr I. Webster, by the Borough Council on Wednesday evening. Following are particulars of the new rates with the former rales in parentheses: — Rate 1 : Night rate 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (is per 100 walls per annum (8s). Time switch rental 10s per annum. Minimum £3 per annum. Rate 2: Restricted hours cut off at peak load periods, 19s per 100 watts per annum (unaltered). Time switch rental 10s per annum. Allnimum £3 per annum. Rate 3: Continuous supply 20s (■24 s) per 100 watts per annum. Minimum £3 per annum. The reduction, if applied over the last year, would have resulted in a saving of £IGO to consumers.
