STORE AND DAIRY CATTLE. PRICES AT WESTFIELD. The adverse weather conditions for the pastoral industry were reflected in the dull tone prevailing at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterday. In spite of (he small yarding of dairy cattle the values did not appreciate on recent rates, and while there was practically no weakening in average prices a larger number of lines was passed over. The majority of the stock offering showed the effect of unfavourable weather and the consequent dearth of. feed and was in a backward condition. The small bench of buyers did not show any keenness of demand and forward-conditioned springers of good quality were either passed in or sold at low values. Alost graziers and dairymen are finding the problem of feeding present herds sufficiently trying without increasing their stock. The top price was £5 ,7s Gd for a Jersey heifer, close to profit. Ollier good quality cows and heifers sold well under that figure. Store cattle rales were on a par with recent average with Doner stock being firm in demand and value. The quotations were as follows: — Store Cat lie.—Young cows, good condition, from £2 lo £3 15s; good quality, less condition, 30s to 37s 6d; others, io 255; honor and aged cows, to £2 ss; boner hulls, to £5 ss; breeding Jersey bulls, to £3 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, good quality, to £2; others, lo 255. Dairy Cattle.—Jersey cows, fair condition, close to profit, to £4 ss; more backward, to £3 ss; others, to £2; Jersey-cross cows, fair condition, close to profit and recently calved, to £ i . ss; more backward, to £3 ss; Jersey heifers, good quality, close to profit, to £5 7s Gd; more backward, to £3 15s;.others, to £2 10s; Shorthorncross cows and heifers, fair quality, close to profit, to £4; more backward, lo £3; other cows, to £3.

PIO PIO STOCK SALE. Alessrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their tri-weekly sale at Pio Plo on the 22nd inst., when a small yarding of sheep and cattle came forward. Sheep sold to late rates, whilst store cattle attracted keen competition. Dairy cattle were again hard lo quit. Quotations: Good wether hoggets, 17s Gd; medium two-year Shorthorn steers, £2 IGs; broken coloured Shorthorn heifer calves, 225; rough twoyear heifers, 375; store cows, 27s Gd lo £2 Is; dairy heifers, close to profit, £2 to £3; others, 20s Lo 30s; dairy cows, 20s lo £2. ADDINGTON SALE. A heavy entry of fat cattle at the Addington market caused an casing In prices of from 3s lo 4s per 1001 b. Fat sheep also were slightly easier, as were aged. Store ewes maintained their values. Store sheep and Romney cross ewe hoggets sold at from 28s to 29s lid, and halfbred lo 275. Soundmouthed ewes sold at up to 25s Id, and forward wethers to 21s.

Fat Sheep.—There were 4GOO penned. There was an over-supply of wethers, and these eased by is to is Gd a head. Good and medium ewes showed little change, but light ewes were easier. Best wethers made from 27s Gd to 3is 4d, good from 24s lo 275, and average to 23s Gd. Good ewes sold at from 22s Gd to 255; medium 19s to 225, others to 18s.

Fat 'Cattle.-—There were Gi l penned including entries from Poverty Bay, South Westland, South Otago and Southland. Values were down by 30s a head. Best beef made from 20s Gd to 28s Gd, and good from 24s to 2Gs, extra prime heavy steers to £l4 7s Gd, prime heavy £9 10s to £ll ss, prime medium weight £8 5s to £lO ss, ordinary £5 15s lo £7 15s; extra prime heifers lo £lO 2s Gd, prime £5 5s lo £7 10s, ordinary £4 to £5, extra prime cows £9 2s Gd, prime £5 lo £6 10s, ordinary £3 15s to £4 15s.

Fat Pigs.—The entry was large, ami there was a good sale. Porkers brought 23s to 30s, heavy porkers 30s Gd to 39s Gd, average price per lb SLI lo Gd. Baconers made 50s to £3, heavy baconers £3 2s Gd to £3 10 s Gd, extra heavy baconers to £3 17s. choppers 30s to £4 10s, averago price old to 5Ad.
