THE WOMEN’S DIVISION
CAMBRIDGE BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Cambridge branch of the Women's Division was held on Monday afternoon in the Oddfellows’ Hail, Mrs Cooper presiding over a good attendance. Miss 0. Marshall reported on the recent annual conference at Wellington, and a report of the quarterly meeting of 'the South Auckland provincial council was also given. A competition for men’s buttonholes resulted: Mrs E. Nickle 1, Mrs Cooper 2, Mrs Kingdon 3. A kitchen Avord-guessing competition was won by Miss Marshall. The housekeeping-secretary, Mrs W. G. Care, reported that the housekeepers were busy and the services of an additional housekeeper were urgently required. The hostesses for the aflernoon were Mesdames Kingdon, Learning and Jackson. TE PUNINGA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Tc Puninga branch of the Women’s Division of flic Farmers’ Union was held in the Hall recently, the president, Mrs D. Donald, presiding over a large attendance. . Mrs F. J. Shirley, president of the Piako provincial executive, gave an interesting report on the conference held in Wellington. The president of the Tatuanui branch, Mrs C. E. Jenkins, was also present. * A competition for the best Madeira cake was won by Mrs I. W. Sernmens, with Mrs B. Keaney second. ■ A further competition (shadow portraits) caused much amusement, the winner being Miss B. Donald. The arrangements for the children’s fancy dress ball to be held in September are well advanced.
Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames I W. Semmens, F. J. Henry and A. Martinson.
