A whirlwind of considerable force swept inland from the sea across the Bell Rock properties, near New Plymouth, yesterday, and left a trail of havoc, A farmer noticed the visitation when a manuka bush was whisked 25 feet in the air. Next a small corrugated iron outbuilding was lifted bodily and flung over a four-foot fence, only to be volleyed back over two fences and a low clothes line. One side of the building was torn off.
