NEW ZEALAND BUTTER
FIRM AND ACTIVE
ADVANCE IN DANISH. CHEESE QUIET AND DECLINING. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Advices from London show that thfl butter market, which was quiet earlier in the week, is firm and active. The price of choicest salted New Zealand is unchanged at 89s to 90s, but Danish has advanced from 3s to 4s to 102 s per cwt.
The cheese position is quiet and declining. Prices for New Zealand have fallen by from 6d to Is to 44s per cwt. for white and 43s 6d for coloured.
The average price of Canadian cheese has fallen on ac'count of offerings of new season’s make.
An Interesting Comparison. The following comparative table shows the mean closing quotations on the London market for the past two weeks:—

The butter market was steadied after a slow period a year ago. Danish was quoted at 965; choicest salted New Zealand, 78s to 795; Australian, 73s lo 745; unsalted New Zealand, 84s; Australian, 765. The cheese market was steady. New Zealand, white, 49s 6d; coloured, 46s 6d; Australian was cleared.
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having reoeived the following cablegram from their London principals, Messrs Samuel Page and Son, Ltd., dated 18th instant: — Butter. —The market Is firm. New Zealand, finest salted, at 89s to 90s; Danish butter, f.0.b., 80s; Australian, finest unsalted, 87s; Australian, finest salted, 87s; Australian, G.A.Q., 83s to 84s. , ■ " Cheese. —The market is slow. New Zealand white, at 43s 6d to 445; New Zealand coloured, 43s to 43s 6d; Canadian white, 52s to 645; Canadian coloured, 52s to 645; Canadian, 0.i.f., 49a to 50s.
