WATERLOO MEETING. FINALS DECIDED TO-DAY. KEEN COURSES YESTERDAY. With the fourth round of the New Zealand Waterloo Cup completed and the first series of courses in the plate series, for dogs beaten in the second round of the cup, decided, the adjournment of the New Zealand Waterloo meeting at the Whitiora enclosure last evening left the meeting at a decidedly interesting stage.

The principal trophy, valued at £25 and carrying with It about £7O iD prize-money, was brought down to three dogs. Red Rufus, Rhodesia and Father Emerson emerging unbeaten from the fourth round into the semifinal. Rhodesia, who impressed with a full-length run of 25 seconds over about 380 yards in the fourth round, has been fortunate enough to draw the bye and meets the winner of Red Rufus and Father Emerson this afternoon. With the issue restricted between the faster dogs some exciting courses were witnessed by a good gallery of spectators. Red Rufus had a somewhat fortunate victory over Just Peter, '■but Rhodesia and Father Emerson, who were hot favourites from the commencement of the meeting, impressed with both pace and turning work on the hare. Both dogs appear to be much on terms, although Father Emerson showed up slightly better on pace, covering the plump ton from the ■slipper to the escapes in 21fsecs.

THE WATERLOO CUP. FATHER EMERSON IN SEMI-FINAL. The Dominion’s premier coursing event, the New Zealand Waterloo Gup was decided on the Hamilton Coursing ■Club’s Whitiora Plump ton this afternoon under adverse weather conditions, light rain falling during the early part of the programme. This naturally was not without its affect upon the attendance which was comparatively small for the importance of the occasion. Nevertheless interesting courses were witnessed and the condition of the hares resulted in few kills being recorded. In the semi-final of the Waterloo Gup Father Emerson, showing superior speed, defeated Red Rufus after an “ undecided ” and “no course."

In the semi-final of the Waterloo, after a couple of unsuccessful courses, they went away to an even slip hut the hare was weak and had gone no distance down the field when it ran , lo the outside, giving Father Emerson ■a decided advantage. The hare struck down the field and was pulled down by Red Fufius. It was not a very satisfactory course for a semi-final. Father Emerson was accordingly awarded the decision on pace. Results: —

Faster Footsteps beat Beau Stone, 4—2.
