Shaw and G. K. Sinclair, J’sP., in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, to-day, when Alexander McGregor, alias O’Connor, alias Murphy, appeared on a charge of a theft of gloves in Hamilton yesterday afternoon. McGregor pleaded guilty. In outlining the circumstances Sergeant Kelly stated that accused was in a public hotel yesterday afternoon and noticed a traveller sitting in the lounge. The travellers’ gloves were on the seat beside him and accused, while making a nuisance of himself to tho traveller picked up the gloves and walked out. When he discovered his gloves, missing the traveller Informed the police and about an hour later Constable Huntly arrested accused in the main street. He was then wearing the gloves. “ This is the 25th appearance of accused in a court. He has had 10 previous convictions for theft, nine for vagrancy as well as other convictions,” commented the sergeant.
