NEW CHAIRMAN OF BOARD.

MR H. Q. R. MASON ELECTED.

MR F. a LAR'K DEPUTY CHAIRMAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Without opposition the Auckland Transport Board to-day elected Mr H* G. R. Mason, M.P., for suburbs, chairman, and Mr F. E. Lark, secretary of 'the Auckland Unemployed Workers’ Association, deputy chairman. Complimentary remarks were passed to Mr J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the board since its inception. The board, on which there is a strong labour majority, asked for a report as to the economies which can be made and for a return showing the cost of restoring the wages and salary cut to all employees receiving up to £3OO yearly. The chairman's honararlum is £3OO yearly, and members receive 30s per meeting with a maximum of £7B per year.
