LATE MRS McCOMBS.
IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL TRIBUTES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Citizens of all ranks joined in paying tribute to the memory of Mrs E. R. McCombs, M.P., whose funeral took place this afternoon. From 11 o'clock in tbn morning llic ltody lay in stale in the council chambers, and from then until the casket left for the Waimairi Cemetery hundreds of men and women filed through the doors of the building to pay [heir respects, while thousands lined the route along which the funeral procession passed in the afternoon. The Government was represented by •the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. J Bitchener, and there were also present the Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., and members of the City Council, members of Parliament of both parties, representatives of trade unions, the Labour Party. local bodies, and many other organisations with which Mrs McCombs’ work had brought her into conlact. An impressive tribute was paid by the workers of the city. Some 300 members of trade unions beaded the funeral procession from the council •chambers lo the boundary of the city while employees of the Tramways Board, of which 'Mrs McCombs was a in amber, formed an .escort.
