ORPHANS CLUB MEETS.
VISITORS ENTERTAINED.
NEW ODE ADOPTED
There was a large attendance of members at the fortnightly meeting of the Hamilton Orphans Club held in the Winter Show' Hall on Saturday evening. A party of visitors from the Tamaki Club was present, while members from the To Awamutu and Napier clubs were also in attendance.
In welcoming the Auckland visitors the chairman for the evening, Mr R. R. Patterson, expressed the hope that they would spend an enjoyable evening in Hamilton and thanked them for the cordial welcome lie had received on the occasion of his visit to their club. Mr .1. Reid, president of the Tamaki Club, replied. A most enjoyable evening was spent, a popular programme being provided by (lie club orchestra, “ Fantasia of Popular College Songs," " Spring Time,” and “Wartime Memories”; vocal solos, Mr 11. A. Milne; humour, Mr E. Marcrofl, of Napier; vocal soios, Mr W. Gorbov ( r Pc Awamutu); clarionet solos, Mr T. C. Ilrown; vocal solos, Mr T. Moffat (Tamaki); elocutionary items, Mr (1. W. Moore; vocal solos, Mr A. Grant. All present participated in community singing, while the introduction of a new Orphandom Ode, the words of which were written by Mr E. H. Quill, proved to be a popular innovation and it, was unanimously decided to adopt the verse as the club’s official song.
