GEORGE ARLISS.

ADORED IN THE STUDIO. TWO NEW FILMS IN ENGLAND. How England, and particularly Gcbumont- British Studios, appreciated George Arliss is shown by this sketch from an eye-witness on “The Iron Duke” set — "I noticed the marvellous patience and unflagging good humour of the star; .the’ respect with which he was treated by everyone, including the director, Victor Savill, who called him 'Sir,' deferred to him on every point, and the affection Mr Arliss -seemed, to inspire in everyone around him. “Between the shots he was ready with a word and a smile and a quiet little joke for any member of the cast in his vicinity. He was interested in everyone, and everyone obviously adored him.” To Appear as Pepys. Two more films will'be made in England by George Arliss. The first, -an entirely new type of Arliss vehicle, will be called “Spike.” In this “amiable comedy” the star will play a tramp whose name is that of a world-famed financier.

Mr Arliss will then appear as Samuel Pepys, in which film he will be shown more as the hardworking patriot than the dilettante diarist.
