Ohrlstchuroh Collector’s Discovery. —Sometimes a rare and valuable curio is found in the most unexpected place, but only very few collectors arc fortunate enough to make such a discovery. Sometimes finds of this nature arc made by people who do not realise their value, and this probably explains the discovery a collector made in a Christchurch shop recently (says tlie Press). He was amazed to sec, standing unobtrusively In a corner, a scimitar of obviously great antiquity, and on examination discovered a series of gold inlays along the sides of |lie blade, and a faint group of graven characters below' Hie hilt. The hilt itself, carved from ivory, was yellow and cracked with age, but the blade, allhough a little rusty, was of good steel, Jong, curved and beautifully balanced. The collector purchased the weapon for a trifle, cleaned and polished it, and now regards it as the cheapest and most valuable part of his collection. RECOLOURING grev hair.
