In the match with the South Africans, Worcester were out in under two hours.

Bright batting in the opening stage ended when ‘Bell bowled Gibbons. Fifteen runs later Walters played on. Martin was out first ball, but Howart'h saved the hat trick, although he was narrowly missed In the slips. Crisp qulokly took six wickets Including Human and Warne in one over, and Parks, Buller and Jackson in the next, without runs. Crisp’s figures were 9/2/34/6.

Africans Start Poorly.

The Africans started poorly. Wade was out at the fifth ball, and Siedle went leg before, due to Lyttelton’s trap. The new leg before rule was not involved. Rowan and Nourse were associated in a line partnership, which, although not spectacular, revealed complete confidence on the part of the batsmen in their first English match. They attempted all possibilities. Nourse, who was dismissed leg before, was similarly trapped in attempting to hit a straight ball to square leg. He hit one six and six fours. Sparkling Play. ■Cameron gave sparkling play,. reminiscent of that of Jessop. He hit ■three successive sixes, and completed 50 in 45 minutes.

Dalton gave a good display, chiefly drives. 'He hit eleven fours.
