THE HAMILTON UNION.

SATURDAY’S FIXTURES DECIDED. MONDAY’S REPRESENTATIVE GAME There was a full attendance of delegates at the weekly meeting ol' the Hamilton Rushy Union managment committee last evening,' when arrangements in connection with the commencement of the season were finalised. The chairman, Mr A. E. Gibbons, presided. The Auckland Grammar School Old Boys’ Football Club wrote accepting a match with the Hamilton senior representative team in Hamilton on Monday, May 6. The club captain of the visiting team advised that the full senior team would be available and he assured the managament committee that a bright gamo yvould he provided. Mr C. Hunt was appointed manager of the Hamilton team. It was decided that the gate charges should be the same as last year. In view of the need for economy It was resolved to entertain the visitors to dinner a]t a restaurant. The curtain-raiser is to he between Old Boys and High School first junior teams, the junior match lo commence at 1.45 p.m., and the senior match at 3 p.m. To obviate the recurrence of fixtures falling through with nothing else arranged a fixtures committee was appointed to draw up fixtures for the season with power to negotiate with various unions to arrange games. The committee appointed was Messrs. A. E. Gibbons, A. S. Cliffe, C. G. Speight, P. Johnson and T. W. Thompson. The Rangitalki Rugby Union wrote offering the Hamilton representatives a match in Hamilton early in the season. [ The letter was referred to the fixtures committee.

Representative Selector Appointed.

Mr N. Hamilton, was appointed sole selector for the Hamilton senior representative teams for the season. It was resolved to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to Mr J. \V. Hooper for his services as selector last season.

The following players, who represented the Railway senior team last year, were regraded to junior: K. Gregan, T. Lightford, A. J. Mitchell, C. Mueller, C. Dick, J, Bravo, T. Evans, V. Alexander, W. Hannon, E. VV. Skinner.

Old Boys, Technical Old Boys, Frankton and Marist Club applied for registration for teams in the Hamilton senior competition and these were granted. The following players were registered provided their clearances wore in order:—

WAIPA UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The president, .Mr J. G. Mr Mali’s reported that local St. John Ambulance members were prepared to attend all matches, and he suggested that the Union’s llrst-aid boxes be loaned to the Ambulance members meantime, the services or the Brigade being accepted. This was agreed to. Warm expressions or appreciation of the services rendered to the union, and rugby generally, by Mr J. G'. B. Gifford, as llrst-aid officer over a long period of years, were voiced, and it was unanimously agreed to place these on record and forward a letter of thanks to Mr Gilford—who, incidentally; is one or the rew life members or the Union. The secretary was instructed to write to the Domain Board asking ror permission to park cars between Nos. 1 and 2 playing areas while matches are in progress, and giving an assurance that everything possible will be done to prevent th» cars trespassing on the playing fleids. TE AROHA UNION. REVIEW OF PLAYERB. For a newly-formed club Old Boys played quite a good game against City on Saturday. Both sides registered two tries, while City were successful in converting both, thus gaining the victory. City Forwards. The City forwards were a good, even lot, and Weedon, Aislabie, Leace, A. Edmonds, Listerson and Hamilton played with line combination. W. liennah showed plenty of vim throughout in breaking through the vanguard and following up. Versatility. AS wlng-threequarter in the flrst spell and rullback in the second, Cliff Reid showed up prominently for City. He had plenty to do and did it well, in converting both of Dallas’ tries ho showed goal kicking ability above the average. The Old Boys. Although defeated in their first match Old Boys promise to be well up in points as the season progresses. In the hacks they have tried players in Renton, Eastwood, Hancock, Maloney, P. Ray and Pllkington, while the forwards Include solid players in H. Rowe, Frear, Fox, Parton, Humphries, Hepburn and Teague. As hard workers Fox, Frear, Hepburn, Rowe and Humphries are consistent. An Acquisition. , City has a decided acquisition in Dallas, a back of real merit. His flrst try on Saturday was cleverly registered, while his second success in crossing the line was from a long way back. He showed speed and real aptitude for beating the opposition. CAMBRIDGE SUB-UNION. MANAGEMENT MEETING. The weekly meeting or the Cambridge Rugby .Sub-union management committee was held in the Power Board Buildings on Monday evening, when the president, Mr W. Drake, presided over a lull attendance of delegates. The meeting decided in deference- to the local Trotting Club that there should be no rootball next Saturday, the first day of the annual trotting fixture. Arising out of the referees' reports it was decided to insist that all teams must take the field lrf their correct uniforms. Two injured players, E. Turner (Northern senior) and F. Coulter (C'nlted senior) were placed on the insurance list, the former with a broken bone in his’ left hand and the latter a strained lert leg. Fixture*.
