DEATH OF A GIRL

FOLLOWS SHOOTING ACCIDENT. GUN HELD BY BROTHER. .TAUMARUNUI, Sunday. The death. occurred yesterday of Miss Ethel McCann, aged 29, who was injured on Friday when a shotgun which was being loaded by her brother accidentally discharged. The accident occurred at her home at Taringamotu. At’an Inquest held to-day evidence was given by Owen Keith McCann, brother of deceased, that he was loading the gun outside the house, near the backdoor, when it unaccountably exploded as he closed the breach. He said he bought the gun on Thursday but had not used it. '

In returning a verdict of accidental death, the coroner said no blame was attachable to anyone. He said he sympathised with the brother of deceased for his part in an accident which was no fault of his own.
