AUCKLAND CHAMPIONS. WAIKATO PLAYERS SUCCESSFUL. MISSES BEVERLEY WIN. AUCKLAND, Sunday. Finals of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s championship tournament -were played yesterday before crowded galleries at the Stanley Street courts. Play was watched _ by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe. and at the conclusion of the tournament his Excellency presented the prizes. An outstanding feature of the tournament, which was played throughout in fine but windy weather, was the splendid form shown by junior and intermediate players. The new title-holders are: —Men’s singles, E. L. Bartleet; women’s singles, Miss N. Beverley (Waikato); men’s B singles, W. E. Butler; intermediate boys’ singles, J. S. Stevens; intermediate girls’ singles, .Miss B. L. Griffiths; women’s doubles, Misses N. and M. Beverley (Waikato); intermediate boys’ doubles, J. S. .Stevens and j. w. Gunn: intermediate girls' doubles. Misses M. Beverley and B. L. Griffiths (Waikato) ; junior hoys’ singles, A. W. Allen: junior girls’ singles, Miss E.' Stewart; men's doubles, M. M. Morrison and N. G. Sturt; mixed doubles, N. G. Sturt and Miss Marjorie Macfarlane. With his (Mill, win of the Auckland championship title, E. L. Rarlleek established a record. Two other players. W. B. A. Morrison in 1887 and 1891-93, and J. T. Laurenson in 1920-21 and 1924 and 1931. have each scored four victories. On Ihe women's honours board.
