THEN RENDERED UNCONSCIOUS, GIRL IN SERIOUS CONDITION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI, Friday. A remarkable accident befel Miss Ethel McCann, to-day. Her brother, Owen Keith McCann, was preparing to go rabbit-shooting and was loading a gun about 10ft. from the house when the charge, unexpectedly exploded. The charge went through the open back door of the house and through the kitchen, piercing a hole through a quar’ter-Inch matchlining board in the wall between the Ifitchen and the dining room. It then passed between two half-inch boards. Finally, a few pellets struck Miss McCann in ‘the face as she was washing dishes In the dining room. The injuries from the pellets were not serious, but the girl fainted, probably from shock, and fell to the floor. She was unconscious when picked up. It is presumed that her unconscious condition was caused by injuries received to her head when she fell.
