The Governor-'General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe will be present this afternoon at .the finals of the Auckland provincial lawn tennis championships.
After 44 years in the service of the Union Steam Ship Company, Mr E. H. Wing, chief passenger clerk at Auckland, will retire on superannua* lion on Monday.
Captain 11. Donald, of the staff of the Marine Department at Lyttelton, has received advice of Ills transfer to the position of surveyor of ships • at DuneTlin.
Mr Neville Ncwbold, of Christchurch, has accepted a position in the engineer’s department of the Antarctic Expedition ship Bear of Oakland.
The chief Parliamentary librarian, Dr. Guy H. Scholefleld, has been offered a Carnegie Institute visiting grant, which will provide expenses for a trip of a year to the United States, England and Europe, where he will study library methods. His place at the Parliamentary library will be taken by Mr W. S. Wauchop, assistant librarian. .
