DROUGHT IN WANGANUI.
RAIN BADLY WANTED. HOUSEHOLD TANKS DRY. WANGANUI, Thursday. Although there have been several thunder showers in various parts ol the Wanganui district recently, the rainfall in Wanganui City since the beginning of October has been particularly light. Rain fell on 17 days in October, but the aggregate for the hronlh was only 3.95 in. During November there was rain on nine days, but the total was only .93in. Rain which fell on December 8 registered .Oiin. Suburban areas are not served by the city water supply, and practically all household tanks are dry. Water carting is now the dally routine. A creek in the Mosstown district ■' dry for the first time in 40 years.
