There was an exceptionally large attendance at the Epsom Trotting course to-day for the opening of the Auckland, Trotting Club’s Summer Carnival. The weather was warm and fine and the track was in excellent order. Following are the results: — SELBY HANDICAP. Or £150; trotters; limit 3.-12; li miles. 1— GAN TON, Mr w. Ganton was a pronounced fancy wltn £916 from Matunga £374 10s and Golden, Eagle £346. . Guy o’Mine, Kohewah and Nelson Pirate all made mistakes early, Mountain Son leading rrom Jlanna’s Son, Win Huon ana Ganton. Along the back, Manna’s Son bad hit the rront but passing the stands the first time be was displaced in the lead by Ganton, who, at this stage was follower bv Manna’s Son, Gala Day, Golden Eagle, Matune-a, Carl, wahnooka, Autumn .Lu, Guy o r Mine and Mountain Sun. Along the back Ganton bad a break of four lengths on Manna’s Son with Golden Eagle bandy in front of Matunga, Wahnooka (breaking), Autumn Lu, Carl, Guy o’ Mine, and Mountain Sun. There was little alteration across the top, Ganton, Manna’s Son and Matunga swinging into the straight practcially abreast and going on Ganton won decisively by one and a-quarter lengths from Matunga. who galloped past the post one and a-liair lengths in front of Golden Eagle. Manna’s Son was half a length away fourth with Autumn Lu, Mountain Son, Wahnooka and Guy o’ Mine next. Times, 3.26 4-5, 3.27 2-.5, 3.27 4-5, 3.29. Ganton was always going nicely and won well at the end. Matunga and Wahnooka will both be improved by the race.

Rare Rey was the elect of investors with £1072 10s from Great Chum (£002) and Play Lady—Transworthy bracket (£572 10s). Aircraft was fourth fancy with £458 10s, while Gold Dredge carried £l5O. Electric Belt stood on the mark and Supcrllno and Silver Watch were also ,-low to get away. Aerial 801 l made the early running and passing the stands was showing the way to Great Chum, Nello’a, Rare Rey, Aircraft, play Lady, Gold Dredge, Star Pronto and Transworthy. Along the hack Nellota had run up behind Aerial Bell with Great Chum handy In front of Rare Rey, Aircraft, Gold Dredge, Play Lady, Transwortliy and Star Pronto. Great Chum was close behind Aerial Bell with Rare Rey coming fast on the outer as they raced across the top where Aircraft, Nellota, Gold Dredge, Play Lady and Transwortliy were the closest or the others. Aerial Bell was Just clear of Rare Rey at the home turn with Great Chum handy and Gold Dredge and Aircraft close up. Aircraft did best In the run home to win well by hair a length rrom Gold’Dredge who finished on well to beat tbe favourite Rare Rey by a neck. Aerial Bell was rourtb with' Star Pronto, Great Chum, Trans Worthy, Play Lady and Silver Watch in that order. Times: 2.49 4-5, 2.49, 2.50 1-5, 2.50 2-5. The winner was travelling well at the end as also was Gold Dredge. Aerial Bell faded at the end nnish but Is likely to-be Improved by the race. GRANDSTAND HANDICAP. Of £300; limit 4.34; 2 miles. The order was unchanged passing the stands the first time, Nimbus breaking along the back and Sure showing the way past the stands the second time to Francis Lincoln, Colonial Roy, Realty, Tempest, Pukemlro and Willie Derby. There was no alteration in the order of the leaders along the hack, Sure and Francis Lincoln being together at the homo turn in Trent or Colonial Boy and Realty. Francis Lincoln broke In the straight and Sure went on to win by two lengths from Francis Lincoln with Realty three lengths away. Indianapolis ruined his chance, being slow to move, while the best of the others were Blue Mountain and Impromptu, who was going great guns at the end.
