SYDNEY, Deo. 2d. _ Maintaining an unbeaten record in the international tennis contest Crawford and McGrath gave Australia an overwhelming victory over Britain and France. The final totals yesterdav were:—Australia, 10 rubbers, 22 sets, 150 games. Britain, 3 rubbers, 10 sets, 120 games. France, 2 rubbers, 7 sets, 108 games. Results were:— Singles.—McGrath defeated Brug--1)011i d — 2, G —4 ; Boussus defeated Perry, 4—o, o—2,0 —2, 6 —3; Crawford defeated Hughes, 9—7, o—3. The matches were played under very adverse condition’s, the courts being saturated and the balls sodden and discoloured. McGrath was too steady for Brugnon and scored with his famous twoI handed backhand. Perry began well against Boussus willi an effective net attack but after the lirsl set fell away badly and netted and 'aided in tedious fashion. Results were:— Singles.—Crystal defeated Barnett, 6 —o, 6 —3; Rodgers defeated Barrer, 6 4 t 4 — 6, G —4; Turvey defeated McCarthy, 6 —4, 7—5; Lewis ’defeated Young, 6 —4, B— 6. Doubles.’—Rodgers and' Crystal defeated Barnett and Barrer, 6—l, 6—4. Barnett was much below bis best form against Crystal. He served a number of double faults and broke down badly on the forehand.
