The two young men, Messrs. Harry Carmichael and Arthur Brothers, had made an encampment at the back ot Mr D. E. Finlayson’s property at ruliikaramea, and during the morning they saw an object in a willow-tree in the bed of the stream, which resembled a cow-cover. Shortly afterwards a closer investigation was made, and it was found that the object was the remain’s of a human body. The body was perched in the tree at a height of about 20 feet from the ground. It was caught in the branches in a manner which suggested that it had been washed there during the high floods last June. The body was dressed in a red woollen jersey, heavy jacket, faded tweed trousers, and oilskin overcoat. On receipt of the information at Hamilton this afternoon Constables Fraser and Mills went to investigate. At the present time the police have no knowledge of any person having been missing from the district.
