A general strike of railway, wharf, pastoral and mine workers *is threatened in the North Territory at the beginning of next year, owing to the reduction of the basic wage from £4 16s 3d a week to £4 10s 9d under an award of the Arbitration Court which has just been announced. '
About 500 men are Involved. It has also been decided to 'demand a restoration of the 1928 'conditiona, when the basic wage was £5 10s a week. 1
