LOST IN THE BUSH.
SURVEYORS’ EXPERIENCE. RESCUED WHEN EXHAUSTED. (By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Monday. Two Government .surveyors, .Messrs Eric Perry and Hugh Champion, of Wellington, were rescued l in a weak -condition after having been lost in the fous'h west of Manapouri for several days. They set out ’from Dusky Sound three weeks ago to survey country « jto the north. -Perry was attempting to take a rope across a swollen stream when he slipped and was carried down 200 yards, losing aill Iris instruments and maps. The men became lost and for a week subsisted on raw x deer meat and ferns. Perry set out for help, and fortunately met a party of deerstalkers, who rescued Champion' in a very exhausted state.
