The Abyssinian Government’s reply to the Italian Note regarding the Ualual incident declares that the documents of the International Commission contradict the Italian telegram.

Not only the Abyssinian, but the British and Abyssmian commanders, jointly protested against the provocative Italian attitude and demonstrations in Abyssinian territory. The reply asserts that an Italian aeroplane flew over and threatened the Commission while the latter was protesting. The Italians signalled to attack—after a reconnaisance overnight—by \vhlstles whereupon two aeroplanes dropping bombs, and a third one and a tank firing machine guns, arrived on. the scene. This occurred, says the reply, while the Abyssinian machine guns were still covered and not in battle position, and while officers and soldiers, except sentries, were within their tents. ’ The second in command of the Abyssinian escort was wpunded.
