, MAGISTRATE ADJOURNS CASE.

CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A well-known Christchurch resident, Richard Edward Green was defendant in maintenance proceedings this morning. Green who is 83 years of age, recently donated to the boroughs of Sumner and Brighton clock towers, the g''ft in each instance being valued at £BOO.

Defendent continuing in evidence, said that if Hie city council would not accept the slatue which he hod ordered of James Edward Fitzgerald, he knew of someone who would accept it and who was willing to erect it on ground that did not belong to the city council.

Counsel for tlie parties retired to confer and the Court adjourned. Subsequently, the hearing was adjourned until January 1-i.
