WOMEN’S DIVISION.

HAMILTON BRANCH. The December meeting was held on Tuesday, 11th inst before a very good attendance. Mrs Roebuck presided. Votes of sympathy were passed to Mrs C. K. Wilson on the loss' of her husband, and to Mrs I. Walker, of Morrinsville, on the loss of her father, Sir H. Buckleton. Musical ‘items were given by Mrs McLaughlin and her little daughter Jean. Miss Clarke gave .two songs, and Mr Whitehead accompanied. All the items were greatly enjoyed. A good response to the appeal for the Sunshine Lepgue was given, many useful gifts being brought by members. Mrs Judd resigned her position as house-keeping secretary and was heartily thanked for her services. It was decided to have a picnic in 'February in aid of community oh,est funds.

The president wished all members the compliments of the season and the meeting closed with the National Anthem. OHAUPO BRANCH. At the monthly meeting of the Ohaupo branch of the Women’s Division the .president, Mrs Pierce, had a number of circulars from headquarters dealing with replies to the remits submitted to .the annual conference, and particulars regarding the executive meeting to toe held in Christchurch next January. Miss iMclvor was nominated as a delegate. A good display of handworked articles were brought for the competition. Most points were gained toy Mrs Forsyth, while Miss Mclvor was second, and- Miss - Biggs third.

A number of artistic and dainty Christmas cards made by. Mrs Pierce were much admired.

At tlie conclusion of the meeting a presentation was made to Miss Biggs. Mr.s Pierce spoke of the help Miss Biggs had given and wished her all good fortune in her new sphere. A dainty afternoon tea was. served Miss Biggs and Miss Mclvor being the hostesses for the afternoon. AT WHITIKAHU. Whitlkahu held their December meeting at Mrs Baden Law’s home. Mrs Clark presided over 13 members and several visitors. The motto was, “May the Christmas Spirit Fill Every Heart.” Competition 'for the prettiest apron (sewn), not hand-worked, resulted: Miss Norma Best 1, Mrs Clark 2. A skit on Institute day, entitled the “Hostesses Husband," was well carried out and caused much amusement, Mrs Boyce taking the part of “Mrs Joshua Braggs;” Mrs B. Law, “Mr Joshua Braggs." A dainty afternoon • tea was served by some of the members. AT NGARUAWAHIA. The December meeting of the Ngaruawahia branch of the Women’s Institute was 'held in the Ngaruawahia Oddfellows’ Ilall last Tuesday afternoon, Mrs M. Loughran presiding. Following on the precedent made toy other branches of the Institute in the Dominion, it was decided to make a contribution towards the presentation for Lady 'Bledisloe. It'was reported that arrangementswere well in hand for the social to be held in the Town Hall on New Year’s Eve. This annual social has been conducted by the Institute for several years now and has always proved most successful. The roll call for the month, a recipe for a “quick pudding” drew many interesting responses, and a paper hat competition held during the afternoon created, much amusement, first and second prizes being won by Mrs Feeney and Mrs Loughnan lyThe hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Feeney, Wilson and Rowe.
