TRACTOR PARTY’S MISHAP. ONE MACHINE ABANDONED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LITTLE AMERICA, Dec. 13. The tractor party Is en route to camp after a perilous exploration trip in Marie Byrd Land. It has reported that one of the two machines is so seriously damaged that it was necessary to abandon it. Five members of the crew will join the others and return with a single tractor. The accident consisted of a punctured crank case, and it ironically came after the two machines had successfully traversed the dangerous crevasse area. Meanwhile the sledging party is also returning to camp, and is approaching the tractor party from the west.
