NEW STATION AT AUCKLAND. TO BE USED ON SATURDAY. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The old IYA broadcasting station in France Street and the transmitter •In Karangahape Road will go out of commission next Saturday. The new j studio in Shortland Street is not yet j complete, hut part can be used. The 1 new transmitter at Henderson is finished. During an Inspection to-day the chief engineer of r (he Broadcasting Board stated that provision had been made so that its power of 10 kilo- | watts could be stepped up to 00 kilowats, which was the same power as the 8.8. G. regional station. Provision had also been made for the installation in future, if desired, of a second iGO kilowatt transmitter. The power of Hie old IYA is only 5 kilowatts. ! The new Henderson station also has n complete auxiliary equipment for use in the event of any failure of power. The IYA auxiliary station, IYX, is lo lie installed at the new studio, and one of the I GO-ft., lowers used by the old IYA will be re-erected there.
