STOLE £5 NOTE

HOSPITAL PATIENT’S THEFT. ADMITTED TO PROBATION. A plea of guilty to a charge of stealing £5, Die property of Frederick George Willison, at the Waikato Hospital yesterday, was made by Arthur Thompson Cord, aged 2J years, before Messrs .1. 11. Giltos and R. T. Reid, J’s. P.. in the Magistrate's Court,Hamilton, Ibis morning. Detective-Sergeant .1. Thompson informed Die Court that Die accused was a single man who bad been on a farm at Matangi. He hail been in Die Waikato Hospital- with pneumonia and was discharged this morning. Yesterday lie stole a £5 note from a patient who was about to leave the hospital and concealed it in a mirror from which it was later recovered. When interviewed by Constables Hay ami Watts lie admitted the theft. The De-leclive-Sergeant added that Die accused had one previous conviction for common assault.

Cord was admitted to probation on the usual terms for 12 months and ordered to make restitution. '
