FALL INTO HOT POOL.
FATALITY AT ROTORUA. COMMENT BY CORONER. (By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) ' ROTORUA, Monday. 1 The inquest concerning the death of Miss Nona Pettitt, aged 20, who fell into a hot pool in the Kuirau Reserve last Thursday evening, was concluded to-day. The evidence showed that the girl went to the reserve shortly after tl o’clock with a companion for the purpose of bathing in a large warm pool. While passing along a narrow path between two smaller hot pools, she accidentally slipped and fell into one of them. She was admitted to the hospital and died the following morning from effects of shock and of scalding. "The death of this young girl again draws pointed attention to the necessity for the proper fencing of these dangerous pools,” said the coroner, Mr W. L. Richards. “ Tragedies of this kind are becoming too frequent. It is to be hoped the authorities controlling this area will take immediate steps to enclose all these danger spots within their jurisdiction with the object of avoiding similar tragedies in future.
The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death.
