MATAMATA NEWS
PLUNKET SOCIETY DANCE. The members of the Plunket Society at Matamata held their annual dance In the Town Hall on Thursday evening. There was a good attendance. A strong committee of ladies, consisting of Mesdames P. Laurie (president), G. Stewart (secretary), W. L. Barkman, G. G. Beil, Clyffo Taylor, D. R. Abernethy and W. S. Wilson, carried out the arrangements. Mr Stan Holland's orchestra, from Hamilton, provided flic music. Miss M. McGahan supplied an extra. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss R. Leadbeater and Mr .1. Tims, junr.. and a spot waltz by Miss Hogg and Mr F. 'Crabb, while Mr Clyffe Taylor made an efficient M.C.. The supper, which was home-made and supplied by members of the society, was delightful and enjoyed by all. The members of the society intend giving a children’s party early in October. PERSONAL. Miss E. Brown is on holiday in Auckland. Mrs T. 11. Browse has returned from a visit to Hawera. Miss Ann Iluston is visiting her mother, Mrs S. Iluston, Turanga-o-moana. Miss Mae Turkington has returned to Wanganui. Mrs A. Blakemorc inis returned from a visit to the Mount. Mrs G. Kermodc is making an extended visit to Matamata. Mrs Barry, senr., Marton, has come to Matamata to reside. Mrs J. Tiddy is the guest of bet' mother, Mrs J. W. Simpson.
