THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. BUOYANT TONE PREVAILS. (By Telegraph —Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Monday. The Stock Exchange commenced the fresh week’s business with a continuance of the buoyant .tone that has prevailed recently, arid more sales were recorded than usual at the first call of the week. In the banking section New Zealands were steady with fresh business at 48s, but Commercials slipped back further and a sale was made at 17s 4Ad, after which the market stood at 17s 3d to 17s Bd. There was the usual good demand in insurances, and offers of Standards at 67s brought jn a seller at 69s 6d. Government stocks were wanted at late rates, and two parcels were on offer, one of the 1940 Issue at £IOB 10s and one of the 1955 issue at £lll 15s. In the pastoral division Farmers' Auctioneering again came in for special attention, and ordinary £5 shares had a sale 5s higher at £4, after which all issues wore still in request. Australian miscellaneous securities were firm at late rates. The latest rise in Woolworths, Ltd., seems to have been checked, as after further business at 76/6 there were still sellers at that figure. Woolworths (New Zealand), an the other hand, firmed up, an offer of £7 10s failing to interest holders. ■Northern Roller Mills were in heller demand, and a buyer moved up tp 32s Gd. Sales Recorded.
