MR JAMES ALLEN. HAWERA, Tuesday. The death has occurred of Mr James Allen, aged 74 years. In 1885 he played Rugby as an All Black, being known as the ‘‘Taieri gant.” For •some years he was an inspector in the Department of Agriculture. MRS T. McGOUGAN. WHAKATANE, Tuesday. The death has occurred of Mrs T. McGougan, of Opouriao, at the age of 88 years. Mrs McGougan is,survived by four sons and four daughters, including Mrs Wright, of Kawliia. MR CHARLES CHARLESON. DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. One of the best-known residents of Northern Wairoa, Mr Charles Gharleson, died last night, aged 74. MR ROBERT CRICKETT. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The death has occurred of Mr Robert Crickett, of Mount Eden. Mr Crickett was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, in 1850, and came to New Zealand in 1864. He was later engaged in farming at Pokeno, Hautapu and Roto-o-rangi. On bis retirement in 1910 he lived for ten years in Cambridge before settling in Auckland. Mrs Crickett died four years ago. Mr Crickett is survived by four sons. Messrs R. Crickett and L. Crickett, of Putaruru, A. G. Crickett, of Ilunua, and A. B. Crickett, of Auckland, and three daughters, Mrs Mulholland, of Okoroire, Miss Crickett, of Cambridge, and Miss E. K. Crickett, of Auckland. MR C. MOORE. VETERAN OF VICTORIAN TURF. MELBOURNE, Sept. 4. The death, is announced of a veteran of the Victorian turf, Mr G. Moore, who was a Flemington owner and trainer. He had been present at each Melbourne Cup race for the past 50 years.
