LONDON MARKETS. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Ist September, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow. —Market quiet but steady at about last quotations. Fair business has been done. Hemp.—Manila: Market remains quiet but Arm with values about unchanged. Sisal: Market 'quiet but steady with no material change in value. New Zealand: Market unchanged. No first hand sales reported. Apples: Shipment of Australian arrived last week. Sturmers sold at from 5s to Is 6d, and bulk at from 6s to 6s 6d. Few American Gravensteins sold at from 11s to 12s. English supplies heavy; poor demand. Peas.-*—Maples: Demand good until about the middle of the month. “A" grade Tasmanian for August-Septem-ber shipment sold at from 51s 6d to 525; and No. 1 New Zealand at from 50s to Sis. Trade quiet now with values about unchanged. Blues: Fair demand about the beginning of the month. “A" grade Tasmanian £l2 buyers; shippers offering £l2 10s. Market has declined. August-Sep-tember shipment sold at £ll 10s. TAUPIRI PIG SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports on the pig sale held at Taupiri on 'Monday. There was a good yarding of fat pigs, which consisted mainly of good quality baooners and porkers. Spirited competition was elicited, and values obtained were well up to recent quotations. Store and weaner pigs were yarded in large numbers, and store pigs remained Arm at late rates, while slips and weaners were hard to dispose of. We quote: Heavy baconers, £2 18s to £3 2s; medium baconers, £2 10s to £2 16s; light baconers and heavy porkers, £2 5s to £2 9s; medium porkers, £1 14s to £2 2s; porkers, £1 8s to £1 12s; good stores, £1 2s to £1 5s 6d: others, 19s 6d to £1 Is; slips, 12s to 16s; weaners, 6s to 10s 6d; sows with litters, £4 to £4 10s; sows to pig, £2 17s 6d to £3 17s 6d; maiden sows, to £3.
