HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY,

SHOW AT MATAMATA. The third annual show' of the society was held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr W. A. Gordon, chairman of the Town Board, carried out tiie official opening, Mr and Mrs C. Brown, of Morrinsville, were judg&». The entries were down slightly from last year, with a total of 352 against 371. The district courts provided keen competition, Matamata winning with 96 points, Taihoa second, 91, and Waharoa third, 90 points. Special prizes were won as follows: —Outstanding exhibit in the show, Mrs It. A. Hawes (Amaryllis); most entries in show, Mrs A. 11. Lambourne 1. Mrs F. Martin 2; most points In all classes, Mrs A. H. Lambourne; most points in sweet peas, Mrs J. E. West; most points in decorative section, Mrs A. 11. Lambourne; most points in pot plants, Mrs D. R. Gunn; most entries in vegetable classes, Mr G. J. Duxfield.
