MATANGI P.W.M.U.
A SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Matangl Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held in the hall on Thursday. There was a representative gathering. Visitors from Te Awamutu (Mesdames Whitelaw, Story and McArthur), lo'oal members from St. David’s Guild and Women’s Institute, the Rev. Mr Whitelaw (Te Awamutu), and the Rev. D. Hay, 8.A., (Matangl) were also present. The president (Mrs T. Thompson) presided, and introduced Mrs Whitelaw, who gave a most Interesting address on missionary work in India, China and the New Hebrides, which was very much appreciated. Miss E. Cameron gave a recitation. “The Song in the Market Place,” which was very much enjoyed. Mrs Thompson announced that their annual meeting will be held in October, at her home. An apoology was received from the secretary (Mrs McDowell). The trading table, in charge of Mrs J. Shaw'and Mrs J. Cameron, did splendid business. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the ladies, and at the conclusion a hearly voto of thanks.was passed to Mrs Whitelaw. Mrs Fullerton presided at the piano.
