SHEEP FARMERS IN COURT. In the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr F. If. Levion, S.M., ,T. R. Dlsher. on a charge of exposing llce-tnfected sheep In the otoroliange saleyards, pleaded guilty. ] ■stating that he was not an experienced shcepfarmer and only kept a few' sheep for his own use. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs. On a similar charge John Rndge. senr. (Puketarata). pleaded guilty, stating that had he known the sheep were unclean ho ] would not. have sent, them to the sale. Defendant was convicted and fined 10s and costs. Tennis Club. The following have been elected officers of the Otorohanga Tonis Club: Patron, Mr P. F. Skinner; president, Mr J. F. Trapskt: vice-presidents, Mrs G. Irvine (Otewa), and Messrs. Thompson and Fleming- secretary and treasurer, Mr Ward: mulch committee. Miss D. Scarborough and Messrs. Ward and Thompson: grounds committee, Messrs. Fleming. Garvey and Trapski: general committee, president, vico-presldenls, secretary, ami Misses MeKerras and Scarborough, Mesdames Ward and Miller, and Messrs. Wilshier. Pllklnpton Garvey, Miller. Rhodes and Ilildcr: auditor, Mr P. J. Fortescue; delegates to the King Country Association. Messrs. Thompson and Fleming: sole selector for A team Tor tho season, Mr Thompson. The "club has decided to advance the Junior aa-o to under 21 years, and to provide a class for school child, on. The past season has been the most .successful, financially and progressively, in the career or the club. Concort at Walkorla. Walkerla Borstal Instltuto was again
visited by tho Otorohanga Concert Party, supported b.v Hemara’s Orchestra, w’hen a lengthy programme was provided. Quoen Carnival. The Otorohanga District High School Committee has Inaugurated a Queen Carnival, in order to raise funds, and the following Queeirs have been nominated:— Miss Annie Blomfield (Juniors); Miss M. Evellegh- (Evellegh House); Miss Marie Cook (Kedgley House); Miss Joan Sannderson (Brown House) and Miss Nora Rothery. Rugby Referees. The secretary or the Now Zealand Referees’ Association (Mr F. 11. Mullins), has advised the president (Mr J. H. Ltnskey) or the King Country Rugby Referees’ Association that the examiners have awarded the following marks to Otorohanga district referees: N. Carr 137, 11. Miller, 132, P. Barton 117, F. Irwin 158. Daffodil Day. The Otorohanga Town Hall annexe provided an animated sceno yesterday, wnen the annual Daffodil Show, organised by the Presbyterian Church was held. There was affine display of daffodils and other seasonal blooms. The principal winners In the daffodil .sections were: Mrs Dowtiard (IlangatiUi), Mrs Crulckshank (Otewa), Mrs F. O. R. Phillips (Otorohanga), Mr Hopkirk (Cambridge), Mrs H. E. Walters (Ngahape), Mrs S. J. Fortescue (Otorohanga), Miss Kathleen McCready (Otorohanga), Mr A. Blackman (Te Kultl). De-ratlng of Farm Lands. At a largely attended meeting or ratepayers It was deckled to request the Otorohanga County Council to convene another meeting to allow ratepayers to discuss the rating problems within the county.
