ENGLAND AND WALES. RETURNS FOR THREE MONTHS. (Official Wireless.} , i . RUGBY, Sept. 14. \ decline in the number of births, many fewer deaths and a very big increase in marriages, are recorded in the quarterly return 'of the registrargeneral as having been registered in England and Wales during the three months ended June 30. Live births numbered 154,165, which was 11,238 less than in the corresponding quarter of 1932. Of these •births 79,033 were boys and 75,132 were girls. Deaths numbered 108,609, or 61,393 less than in the preceding quarter and 7619 less than in the corresponding quarter of 1932. The death rate for the period was 10.8 per 1000 of the population, dr 0.8 per 1000 below that recorded during the second quarter of 1932. The natural increase in the population by the excess of births over deaths was 45,556, which was less than usual. Persons married totalled 170,328, an increase of 81,862 compared with the preceding quarter and 33,128 more than in .the corresponding quarter of 1932.
