THEFT OF £4OO.
GRABBED IN THE STREET. INCIDENT IN NEWCASTLE. United Press Assn.—Rlor. Tel. Copyri*ht SYDNEY, Sept. 15. A thief in Newcastle to-day snatched a handbag containing £4OO in cheques and £OO in casli from a •girl employed in a local produce store. She was taking the money to a bank when a young man on the footpath suddenly' leaped forward and grabbed her bag. The thief thrust the girl aside and decamped on a motor-cycle.
