COMPENSATION CLAIM
SUNSTROKE ALLEGED. AUCKLAND, Friday. In the Arbitration Court yesterday further medical evidence was heard in the case in ,which Robert Hunter Dowie, aged 55, labourer, ot Te Kuiti (Mr. Mackersey) sought compensation from his previous employers, tlie Waitomo Lime Company, Limited (Mr. liore). Mr. Justice Frazer presided. It was alleged by plaintiff' that .he had been obliged to work in a quarry in the full rays of the sun, and that on January 11 he contracted sunstroke or heat apoplexy. The defence denied that plaintiff had suffered from sunstroke, or that the company was in any way liable. It further denied that sunstroke could be treated as an accident for the purpose of the Act. The case was adjourned until this ■morning.
