TE AWA.MUTU, Thursday When the limited express reached Te Awamutu at 10 o’clock last nignt the police arrested Andrew McPherson, a middle-aged man, who had travelled from Auckland lying on the top of a carriage. Accused was charged in the Police Court to-day with vagrancy. McPherson said he wanted to return to Taumarunui. where lie hoped to secure work. Having no money for liis fare, lie climbed on to the top of a carriage and travelled 100 miles in the cold night air. lie offered to walk Hie. .oilier 75 miles to Taumarunui if not sent to gaol.
